Abstract

Taiwan possesses various unique and invaluable humanities datasets, each managed by different entities. This situation requires users to access separate datasets to find the information they need. As user interactions evolve from simple keyword searches to natural language queries and dialogues, there is an increasing demand for a unified interface that can support more complex information requirements in the Taiwanese context. To address this, the TAIwan HUmanities Conversational AI Knowledge Discovery System (TAIHUCAIS) was developed. By integrating local datasets with advanced AI models, TAIHUCAIS is specifically designed to enhance data organization for exploring various Taiwanese humanities topics. TAIHUCAIS offers an intuitive dialogue-based platform, developed through user experience research, that simplifies the knowledge discovery process while catering specifically to the needs of humanities scholars. Additionally, TAIHUCAIS leverages the transition from general language models to specialized ones in AI technology, making it a potential exemplar for similar developments in other application domains.
