Abstract
This paper explores the role of artificial intelligence in the mortgage industry, focusing on how it both perpetuates and challenges historical biases in lending. While AI promises to reduce human subjectivity, its use of biased data risks reinforcing and amplifying systemic discrimination. Through the lens of bank regulators, the study begins to probe how AI can reshape both financial practices and our understanding of historical narratives shaped by bias. Ultimately, fair lending in the age of AI raises crucial questions about transparency, accountability, and the ethical reshaping of narratives.
